Southeast District Meeting Thursday, August 13, 2020 6:30pm EST (5:30pm CST) via GoToMeeting and Aspire OT Topic: "Utilizing the Concepts of Neuroplasticity and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) in Rehabilitation of Patients with Upper Extremity Hemiplegia/Paralysis" Principles of neuroplasticity are applied to FES used in rehabilitation of patients with upper extremity paralysis. Randomized controlled trials utilizing FES demonstrate clinically significant gains in upper extremity function. About the Presenter: Christy Aylies, PT graduated from Ohio University’s Physical Therapy program. She then relocated to Atlanta, GA and practiced as a PT for approximately 10 years, treating a variety of patients in several different settings. She has been a medical device manufacturer’s representative for many years, supporting and educating patients, orthopedic surgeons, psychiatrists, nurses, PTs & OTs. Learning Objectives:
