About this Presentation: In this presentation we will discuss burn basics, the role of OT in the rehabilitation team and apply that learning in case studies.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn burn basics
  2. Participants will understand the Occupational Therapist’s role and goals in burn rehabilitation
  3. Participants with apply learning in case study examples

Speaker: Julie Woodnorth RN, OTD, OTR/L is a burn therapist at Vanderbilt University Medical Regional Burn Center. Julie first studied nursing at Texas Christian University. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the inpatient rehabilitation setting during her graduate studies. Julie earned her doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Belmont University. Julie began work at Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She soon found her love for the acute care setting and specifically the burn unit.
