Speakers: Kaylin Flamm, OTR/L and Megan Colletti, OTR/L, TNOTA Mental Health Co-Chairs

Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to demonstrate understanding of sensory assessments in adult populations in all settings.
  • Participants will be able to define and guide clients through exploration of the sensory system through coaching, sensory diet, and mindfulness.
  • Participants will be able to reflect and apply evidence for sensory regulation in adult populations.

About the Presentation: Have you ever experienced a client with difficulties in emotional regulation or tolerating adverse events? Maybe a client with decreased frustration tolerance when learning adaptive dressing strategies, or the client with significant fall anxiety as they work on functional mobility post hip fracture. The adult clients that you are frequently encountering across a variety of settings can often benefit from sensory intervention strategies to assist them in managing their emotions in relation to chronic pain, mental health difficulties, and significant habit, role, and routine changes. Join Megan and Kaylin in learning sensory strategies and the evidence behind them for adult populations. Sensory intervention is far more than integration practices used in pediatrics, let’s explore how we can apply this unique area of OT to our adult clients as well.

Free for members, $20 for non-members, 1 CEU hour
