About This Course: The CAUTION/IMPROVE presentation will cover the background and development process for creating two educational acronyms. CAUTION represents fall and/or future brain injury prevention techniques and IMPROVE represents non-pharmacological pain management strategies. We will discuss utilization in various settings and populations, along with current effectiveness.

Course Objectives:

1. To understand the reason and process for development of an acronym to represent ways to prevent a fall and/or future brain injury and non-pharmacological pain management strategies.
2. To provide ways to utilize each acronym in practice.

Presenter & About the Presenter: Courtney Busken, OTR/L, CBIS, is an occupational therapist serving the neurologic population in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. She's developed two acronyms and is seeking universal use to promote education and retention of fall/future brain injury prevention techniques and non-pharmacological pain management strategies.
