It will include basic information on child passenger safety, including commercial and adaptive options. Adaptive child passenger restraints will include large medical seats, adaptive booster seats, safety vests, car beds, and transportation in a wheelchair. The course will describe a model for adaptive transportation assessment and service provision. Resources will be provided for therapists to develop skill in this area or to locate local resources for child passenger safety. Course Objectives:
Presenter: Missy Bryan, OTD, OTR/L, BCP, ATP, CPST, has 25 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy. She is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Belmont University and works in the seating and mobility clinic at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. She is an instructor for the Safe Travel for All Children with Special Health Care Needs course. Her research interests include transportation and elopement.
