As a therapist, how can you integrate the pelvic floor into your treatments? The pelvic floor can contribute and even cause several common conditions like urinary incontinence, constipation, pain with intercourse, low back pain, pelvic pain, and numerous pregnancy/post-partum related issues. Being able to recognize pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and integrate that knowledge into your treatments can be a game changer for your patients. This is an introductory course into pelvic health therapy and how to incorporate the pelvic floor into treatments for your patients in various settings. Course Objectives:
Presenter: Sara Lynn Johnson Fultz, PT, MS, MPT, ATC/L, CDNT, CSCS Sara Lynn is a physical therapist with over 23 years of experience treating patients with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions. She developed a passion for helping women and men with pelvic health conditions and has focused her practice in this area for the last 15 years. She has extensive training in orthopedics and pelvic health with a focus on pelvic pain, bowel and bladder dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, and pregnancy/post partum conditions. Sara Lynn was the director of pelvic health services at a large outpatient orthopedic physical therapy group. She developed the group’s pelvic health physical therapy program that had a presence in numerous states across the Southeast and worked with the group to successfully open and manage the first stand-alone pelvic health physiotherapy clinic in the Memphis region. Currently, as the co-owner and co-founder of MOJO Pelvic Health, she works to train and mentor therapists in pelvic health and strives to increase access to pelvic health therapy for men, women, and children. Sara Lynn is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Biomechanics. She completed her Master of Physical Therapy degree with highest honors from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She is also a Certified Dry Needling Therapist, Certified Athletic Trainer with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in the Physical Therapy Program, she teaches a pelvic health course and an advanced pelvic health elective course. She has lectured on pelvic health in the local PTA programs of Concorde Career College and Southwest Tennessee Community College and has presented at Grand Rounds, to colorectal surgery medical residents at UTHSC, and OBGYN residents at UTHSC and Baptist. Her pelvic health training includes the completion of numerous courses through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Sara Lynn is married to Aaron. Together they have two daughters, Sara Grace and Lynnley, who keep them on the go! When not working with MOJO, Sara Lynn enjoys traveling, anything sports-related, and spending time with family.
