More Than Supervision: Using Collaboration to Grow an OT/OTA Partnership

The relationship between OTs and OTAs can be one of the distinct values of occupational therapy as it can enrich the OT process as the two work together to achieve the best outcomes for clients. Yet as OT practitioners juggle so many demands it may seem daunting to just fulfill the requirements of supervision not to mention working to nurture the relationship. This presentation will grow your knowledge of what collaboration looks like as well as have you consider how to use skills you are already familiar with as an OT practitioner to strengthen your OTA/OT collaborative relationships.

Speakers:

Niccole Rowe, BA, COTA/L

Aspire OT Founding Partner

Kimberly Breeden, MS, OTR/L

Aspire OT Founding Partner

Niccole and Kim combined have over 30 years of experience working in the field of occupational therapy. Their experience includes clinical treatment in a variety of settings and populations as well as program development and administration. Their contributions to the OT profession include the publication of 2 continuing education articles for OT Practice and instructing OT professionals across the country to the role of OT in treating chronic pain. In 2019, Kim and Niccole ventured forth into entrepreneurship by founding Aspire OT which is a continuing education company that seeks to serve only the OT profession. The pair have been recognized for their exemplary partnership and impact on the profession with the 2018 American Occupational Therapy Association Terry Brittell OTA/OT Partnership Award. In 2020, Niccole was individually recognized with the AOTA Gary Kielhofner Emerging Leader Award.
