About This Discussion: The TNOTA Diversity and Inclusion Committee warmly invites all students and occupational therapy practitioners to attend our panel discussion on Affirmative Action and How It Will Affect the Field Of Occupational Therapy. This discussion will be moderated by TNOTA President Elect, Stephanie Lancaster. 

Participants will be able to: 

  1. Discuss the Affirmative Action decision on the field on OT
  2. Discuss the impact of the decision on OT clients
  3. Discuss how the decision will or can impact specific practice settings
  4. Generate ideas for change to ensure that clients needs are being met

Moderator: Dr. Stephanie Lancaster, EdD, OTR/L, ATP, serves is program director and associate professor in the Master’s degree program of occupational therapy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. Stephanie is a graduate of the Program in Occupational Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis (BSOT) and also holds a Master of Science degree in Leadership & Policy Studies and a Doctor of Education degree in Instruction & Curriculum Leadership with an emphasis on Instructional Design & Technology from the University of Memphis. She joined the faculty of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Occupational Therapy Department in 2013. With over 32 years of experience in the field of OT, Stephanie has provided OT services to clients across the lifespan in a variety of settings and with diverse needs. In addition to her role as President-Elect of TNOTA, Stephanie serves on the leadership team of the Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD) and is the representative for the AOTA Representative Assembly for the state of Tennessee. She hosts a podcast called On The Air for individuals interested in occupational therapy.
